Established in 2019, EdinburghEnsembles@119 is a popular choice for exploring the great chamber music works. Whether you are part of an established ensemble or would like us to match you with like-minded enthusiasts, it's a great way to start your chamber music journey, explore new works, prepare for other courses or experiment with different instrument combinations. New to chamber music? Come along and build confidence and stamina, gaining knowledge of the enormous range of chamber music at the heart of the great composers' output from the 18th century to the present day. At the core of such ensembles lies the string quartet (2 violins, viola, cello). Various additions and subtractions can produce trios, quintets, sextets etc and can also introduce wind instruments and/or piano into the mix
